September 2, 1955 was an eventful day on the Van Pelt farm, there were four preparing to go to the first day of school. By the time the Van Pelt four came home there was a new brother! Bill was soon the star of the neighborhood with kids running across fields to see him. Bill was the first in the family to not have begun their scholastic career in the country school. Bill excelled at school, in fact it wasn't uncommon for Carl or Mildred to have "special" meetings with teachers along the way. In the last days of his senior year, Bill and one of Warren County's finest former deputies drove a go-kart through the main hall of the High School and out the west door. Thankfully they were allowed to graduate.

After graduation, Bill worked in the flooring business and retired as a General Manager. Bill's adult life took him to various states where he never met a stranger and acquired new friends easily. There was no adventure not worthy of his time!

Bill leaves behind countless family and friends.

Surviving Bill are his sisters, Barb Ruble and Nancy Prickett; girlfriend, Linda Gutierrez; three daughters, Suzie Milazzo, Heather Milazzo, Kirsten Kreinheder and their children, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Carl L. and Mildred; brothers, Carl M. and Chuck, as well as a sister in infancy, Patricia.

Services for Bill Van Pelt, 63, who passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  The visitation will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Every Step Hospice.
