Obituary

William "Billy" Reeves, a husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and resident of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away September 6, 2024, at Taylor House Hospice, Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 53.

Bill was born in Des Moines to William "Bill" and Carole Reeves on June 26, 1971.  He graduated from Lincoln Tech Diesel Mechanic School, as the youngest ever student and at the top of his class in 1988.  From there, he went to Hicklin GMC as a diesel mechanic and then moved on to Caterpillar/Ziegler CAT as a machinist.  Bill's true love and passion began when he took a position at the Iowa State Patrol, wiring and upfitting their patrol vehicles. While working at the ISP garage, he met the Whelen Engineering Inc. representative who convinced him to work for him. He took the position and had soared ever since.  When Bill passed, he owned WReeves and Associates Inc., Prole Properties LLC and ReeRodz Inc. – grass did not grow under his feet.

To say that Bill loved to build vehicles is an understatement.  He won many awards throughout the years with his projects; but one of his proudest moments was winning first place at Good Guys Heartland Nationals with his 1947 Ford Cab Over.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dawn Vodraska-Reeves; his children, Logan and Erin Reeves, Jake (Danielle) Anctil, Luke (Nikki) Anctil, Abby Anctil and Ben Anctil; grandchildren, June, Mae, Ruth, Toby and Aspen Anctil; sister, Joni Reeves; brother, Brian (Sharon) Gobeli; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Rita Vodraska; brother-in-law, Tom (Lori) Vodraska; sister-in-law, Angie Vodraska; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved dog, Gertie. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Carole Reeves; brother-in-law, Scott Vodraska; and an infant brother and sister.

The family would like to offer our sincere gratitude and thanks to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, the Mission Blood and Cancer Center and all the doctors, surgeons, nurses, as well as the staff at the Taylor House Hospice, for such compassionate and tender care.
