Obituary

William Richie Paige 59, of New Virginia, IA passed away September 12th 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA surrounded by his loving family. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Saylor Township, Iowa. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 15 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be sent to a charity of the family's choice. Richie was born July 11th, 1952 in Creston, IA to William and Rose Pitkin) Paige. Following his high school graduation, Richie attended Iowa Western Community College where he met, and married Jane Campbell of Clarinda, Iowa in 1974. To this union a son was born. Together, they made their home in Des Moines, Iowa before their eventual separation. Richie continued to work his trade as an HVAC worker in Des Moines. He enjoyed fishing trips, car racing, bowling and being with great friends where he met his soul-mate Rosemary. Together, they built an amazing bond, and got married in 1994. They called both Des Moines, and New Virginia their homes. Between them they fostered four children. They were two of a kind, through thick and thin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; and his parents. Richie is survived by his children and their spouses, Jacob Paige, Steve Fating, Steven Seward, Tammy Lazear, Rodney Seward, Jeff Seward, James Seaney, Christina Lazear and Jessica Lazear; seventeen grandchildren, Jacob and Rece, Heather and Tyler, Kyle, Payton and Kaden, Rodney, Paige and Rosie, Zack, Christina and Jessica, Justen, Payton and Charleigh, and Chase and Dante. Additional survivors include his brother, Daniel Paige; sisters, Jodi Griswold and Patti Wilson; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Richie had many friends, neighbors, and acquaintances that will dearly miss his friendship.
