Services for William A. Carter, 81, who died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2 at the Norwalk Christian Church, of which he was a member.  Cremation will follow services and burial will be held at a later date in Orlando, Florida.

He was born in Springfield, Illinois and served in the United States Navy during WWII.  He had worked for Solar Aircraft in Des Moines and retired from the Department of Navy as a Logistics Engineer working with NASA contracts.  He was the best Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Friend.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Bill Carter Jr. of North Carolina, Bruce Carter of Orlando, FL, Cindi Carter of Hilton Head, SC, John Thomas of Des Moines and Steve (Charlene) Thomas of Norwalk; eight grandchildren, Alan (Sara) Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Jennifer Carter, Vickie (Bill) Marchese, James Thomas, Tari Rojas, Frank Thomas and Maggie Thomas; and nine great grandchildren, Katlyn Carter, Gianni Carter, Larissa Carter and Diago Carter, Christian, Jaiden, Jocelyn, Katrina Marchese,  and Jamen Rojas.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Norwalk Christian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
