Wayne Edwin Oxenreider passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81.  He was born in Rural Warren County Iowa on March 16, 1942 to Lowell E. and Ruth (Clevenger) Oxenreider. The third of three boys.  He was raised West of Liberty Center and graduated from Indianola High School in 1960. He immediately joined the US. Army and spent the next 3 years at Army Base Fort Hood (2nd Armored Div.) Texas.  Upon returning home he joined his father in the business of NAPA Auto Store.  He married Barbara in 1968 and she also joined the business.

Wayne had fathered 2 children and Barbara had mothered 3 children.  Together they had 1 child.  When they retired in the mid 1990's they moved to Big River, California then on to Mesquite, Nevada for 17 years. Returning in 2020 to live in West Des Moines.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Lowell and Ruth Oxenreider, step-son  Mike (Sue)Tompkins.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Oxenreider; step-children Debbie Rasko, Marcia Jacobs and children John Oxenreider, Dawn (Dave) Olson and Allen Oxenreider; brothers, Stan Oxenreider and Dwight Oxenreider; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Inurnment of cremains with Military Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
