Wayne was born in Martensdale and graduated from Martensdale High School. He worked as a printer for Plain Talk in Des Moines. He enjoyed camping, dancing, auto racing and was a handyman.

He is survived by his sons, Derek (Content) Howard of West Des Moines, Brandon (Belinda) Howard of Indianola and Sean (Janine) Howard of West Des Moines; daughter, Brenda (Marty) Johnson of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; mother, Leola; twin brother, Dwayne (Nancy) Howard of St. Charles; and sister, Terry Howard of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, father Bim and brother Doug.

Visitation will be held 4 - 7 p.m., Friday, April 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed the Children.
