Wayne Byron Baker, 89, of Indianola, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, in Indianola.  Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Private family interment will follow the visitation in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Wayne graduated from Mapleton High School in 1954 and Iowa State in 1958.

He enjoyed following Iowa State Sports and the Green Bay Packers. He anxiously looked forward to opening hunting pheasant season, so he and Pepper could go out hunting. Fishing was also something he enjoyed.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Gayle Strickland; son, Larry Baker; the pride and joy of his life, grandson, Nathan Strickland; brother-in-law, Gary Fry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Baker; first wife, Jane Smith Baker; parents, Theodore and Alice Baker; brother, Bernard Baker; and sister-in-law, Joann Fry.

Memorials, in memory of Wayne, may be given to a charity of your choice.
