Obituary

A funeral mass for Walter P. Klodd, 88, who died Thursday, March 3, 2005, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 7, at St. Thomas Aquinas in Indianola. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Chisholm, Minnesota, Walter had lived in Jefferson for the past 10 years. He had worked for McGladery-Hansen and Dunn in Cedar Rapids and Protein Blenders of Iowa City, before retiring in 1981 from Terra Chemicals in Sioux City, Iowa, where he worked as their comptroller.

Mr. Klodd served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and in Churchill, Canada in the engineers building an Air Base. He was nominated for the Silver Star and Bronze Star and received the Purple Heart. He married Clare Vessel following the war in 1946.

He is survived by his wife, Clare of Jefferson; two sons, Paul (Linda) Klodd of Jefferson and David (Heidi) Klodd of Indianola; sister, Jennie; and two grandchildren, Tony and Annie Klodd.
