Mr. Baker graduated from Liberty Center High School.  He lived all of his life on farms southeast of Indianola and was a long-time Liberty Center area farmer.  He was well-liked and respected in his community and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife Shirley Baker of rural Liberty Center and her children Mark Sutton of Liberty Center, Allen Sutton of California, Sandra Constant of Sanora, Kentucky, and Cynthia Ragan of Indianola; his two nephews Larry Lester (Edna) and Lynn Lester (Marianne) of rural Indianola; seven great nephews and nieces, Lacey Lester (Michaela), Kerry Lester (Marlene),  Lee Anne Schiller (Larry), Chris Lester (Sharon), Aaron Lester (Michelle), Megan Morhardt (Tom) , and Lydda Youmans (Dave); thirteen great-nephews and nieces; one great-great nephew; and a first cousin, Virginia Gleason of Northfield, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Baker, and a sister, Helen Baker Lester.

Visitation will be held 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, at Overton Funeral Home.  The family will be present to greet friends 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Lacona Fire Department.
