Service and visitation for Virginia Hauge Penfold, 89, who passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  The visitation will be held prior to services from 1 to 3 p.m.  Cremation will follow services.

Virginia was born September 28, 1927 in Lorimar, Iowa, the daughter of John Elmer and Lula Alice (Akins) Austin.  She graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1944 and was united in marriage to Maynard Hauge November 8, 1946.  To this union five children were born.

Virginia had lived most of her life in Des Moines until retirement when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1993.   She returned to Iowa in 2001 living in Leon, Iowa and most recently in Osceola.  She enjoyed traveling, scrabble and spending time with family.

Virginia is survived by her children, Carrol (Bruce) Duncan, David (Debbie) Hauge, Charlie (Doug) Deitrick, Ginny (Scott Dickinson) Smith; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles Austin and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Austin; husbands, Maynard Hauge and Hollis Penfold; daughter, Julie and her husband Larry Langholz; grandchildren, David Hayes and Emmy Lou Hayes; six brothers and five sisters.

Memorials may be given to HCI Hospice in Osceola.
