Virginia, who was the daughter of Glen and Grace Van Hoy, was born in Goldendale, Washington. She graduated as an honor student from Goldendale High School. She attended Washington State College and belonged to Kappa Delta sorority. Virginia was united in marriage to Max L. Lyon, son of John and Leona Lyon of Indianola, Iowa, in Walla Walla, WA, while he was stationed at the Walla Walla Army Air Base. Following his discharge they moved to Des Moines, Iowa before moving to Madison Wisconsin and finally to Deerfield, Illinois where they lived happily for 44 years. Virginia worked as a broker/realtor for several years.

Virginia is survived by her daughters; Michele Womack of Colorado Springs, CO and Mary (Phillip) Bledsoe of Sharpsville, IN; granddaughters, Jennifer Dixon, Nicole Flockhart and Jeannine Womack; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jayleece; brothers, Robert Van Hoy of Sunnyvale CA and David Van Hoy of Tacoma, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max in 2004; her brother, Don; sisters, Eva and June; and great-grandchild, Dylan.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at Overton Funeral Home.
