Obituary

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Victoria Hoskins, 75, of Indianola who passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at the EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 9 at Thrive Church in Indianola.

Victoria "Vicki" Sue Hoskins was born to John and Louise Harp on January 7 th , 1947, in Jamaica Queens, New York. She grew up in Long Island, New York with her parents and two older sisters, MaryAnn, and Carol Lee. After graduating from Cold Spring Harbor High School, she traveled to Iowa at the age of nineteen to attend William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

She graduated with a degree in elementary education and spent the next 35 years teaching for the Carlisle School District. After she retired from teaching, she was a devoted part-time Younkers employee, a shopping aficionado, and had a black belt in finding yellow-dot sales.

Vicki was a world-class mother to Kris Hoskins (Scott Leemans) and Kally Chilton (Anthony). She loved and was beloved by her four grandchildren, Jacob and Cooper Leemans of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Liana and Lennox Chilton of Indianola, and many furry grand pups. Vicki loved nothing more than a good book, a holiday Hallmark movie, or a Charles Wysocki puzzle.

She loved the beach and HGTV and will be fondly remembered and missed by the Schwan's man. Her family will remember her independent nature, tireless work ethic, and deep love for her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kavanagh House in her honor.  To sign an online condolence, visit our website at www.overtonfunerals.com.
