Services for Vicki Rae Merrell, 73, of Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Indianola Community Church with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Vicki was retired from Indianola Good Samaritan Nursing home where she worked for more than two decades.  The compassion that she showed for the residents she cared for was exemplary and she made sure each resident felt seen, heard and loved; she was not afraid to be their voice if needed.   Vicki also worked part time at Little Miracles Child Development Center where she was a room leader and every child in her room felt safe and loved her right back.

The love she had for her family was undeniable; she was always there when she was needed and always cared for others before herself.  Vicki took the roles of Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother extremely seriously.  She was our biggest cheerleader, strongest defender and the voice of reason when we needed a sounding board.

Vicki's love for God and strong faith was evident to all who met her.  She was a Sunday School Leader at Indianola Community Church working with 4–5-year-olds. It was a perfect role for her as she was the grandma figure some of the kids needed. Vicki did daily devotionals and wrote in her journal almost daily; the last thing that written was "thank you God."

Vicki is survived by her daughters, Jody Merrell and Tanya Merrell; son Todd Merrell; grandchildren, Nathaniel (Cassandra) Owens, Christopher Owens, Cassandra Merrell, Skye Merrell and Bailey Beasley; great-grandchildren, Wesley Owens, Amelia Owens, Carter Short, Avery Owens, Sawyer Owens, Zypher Owens and Ziza Owens.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Esther Zenor; and 11 brothers and sisters and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Vicki may be given to Indianola Community Church.
