Vernice Lucile Kingsbury, 102, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away at home on Friday, July 28th, 2023.

Vernice was born in 1921 in Ellsworth, Iowa. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State Teachers College and her Master's in Education from Drake University. Vernice was a proud educator, mostly teaching mathematics. She retired from Des Moines East High School in 1983. She married the love of her life, Donald, on December 31, 1942. They were married for 60 years and had two sons. They enjoyed traveling the world and visited all 50 states and 5 continents together. After Donald passed in 2003, she traveled to Antarctica and Africa with family to achieve her goal of visiting all 7 continents. She always enjoyed reading, puzzles, and anything that challenged her mind. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Vernice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kingsbury, and sister, Katherine Mitchell. She is survived by sons Doug Kingsbury (Sue) of New Virginia, IA and Brad Kingsbury (Vicki) of Blencoe, IA, grandchildren, Gwendolyn Kingsbury and Hunter Kingsbury, and friend, Lucy Kingsbury.
