Services for Vernell "Butch" Hedeen, 79, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the First Assembly of God Church with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Vernell "Butch" Hedeen was born on June 5, 1945 to James and Enola (Kee) Hedeen. He graduated from Ft. Dodge High School in 1963. He was united in marriage to Becky Ann Ramus two weeks after she graduated from High School. To this union three children were born, Kecia, Michael and Tonya.
He worked for 37 years for Dahl's Grocery retiring as the night manager. He was a Bass Master Fisherman, archer, Boy Scout Leader for 8 years, involved in Buck Skinning, and a Master Wood Carver. Butch had a gentle soul and never met a stranger. He volunteered at the Neil Smith Wild Life Center and he was a very faithful man of God volunteering at his church. His grandchildren were at the top of his list when it came to family.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Hedeen; children, Kecia (Tom) Jones, Michael (Karen) Hedeen, Tonya (Scott Hampton) Hedeen; grandchildren, Nathan (Tina) Jones, Michael (Ashley) Harmon, Ashley (Chad) Bottorff, Joshua (Dana) Jones, Courtni (Jesse) Kloberdanz, Tanner White, Schantelle (Timothy) Jones, Amber (Corey) Bisher, Breanna (Clayton) Sampson, Colton Gordon and Luke Gordon; great-grandchildren, Zoey Harmon, Anastasia Harmon, Jayden Jones, Bentley Kloberdanz, Hunter Jones, Brody Kloberdanz, Gunner Harmon, Zander Bottorff, Charlee Jones, Deagan Bottorff, Rylee Jones, Eowyn Bottorff, Gatlin Harmon, Aaydaen Dittmer, Brooklynn White, Aayva Drake, Mosslee Drake, Bria Bisher, Boone Bisher, Bella Bisher, Willow Jones; siblings, Albert Hedeen, Sandy Hedeen, Sheila Schrader, Michelle Johansen, James Hedeen, Matthew Hedeen. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Enola Hedeen, grandson, Matthew Harmon; sisters Wanda Lane and Sharon Hedeen, brother, Steven Hedeen.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Memorials in memory of Butch may be given to Suncrest Hospice.
