Services for Verna Mae Underwood, 84, who died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 18 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Des Moines.

Verna was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert C. Cole of 20 years and Harold Underwood of 34 years; brothers, Howard Hollingsworth and Gerald Higens; and sister, Louise Fry.

She is survived by her children, Albert (Aliene) Cole, Jr., Mary L. Dittmer, Martha Cole, Eva Cole, and Linda (Richard) Essick; step children, Vickie and Carol Underwood; brother, Roger Higens; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.
