VERLYNN (SKIP) VANDERVORT Runnells Services for Skip Vandervort, 59, who died at home on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa. Cremation will follow services. Skip was born on October 31, 1951 to Orville and Karry Vandervort. Skip grew up in Des Moines, and later lived in Wooster, Ohio and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He moved back to Iowa in October of 2006. Skip is survived by his son Michael Vandervort; daughter, Valerie Vandervort; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Alexzander Smith who he absolutely adored; sister, Kathie (Ron) Stogdill; and three nephews, Shawn and Chad (Darcie) Sherwood, and Justin Stogdill; great niece, Georgia Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
