Funeral services for Vera Mae Cross, 84, who passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at home will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Burial will follow in the Wallace Cemetery, Wick, IA.

Vera Cross, the daughter of Pearl and Della Woods, was born October 27, 1923 in rural Decatur County, IA.  and had lived in the Indianola area since 1957.  She worked for LOOK Magazine and was also a cook at Alpha Chi Omega on the Simpson College Campus.  She also was a home day care provider.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max Cross in 1993; her parents; son, Dick Cross; sister, Bethel Starmer; brother Dennis Woods; 1 great-grandchild, Harrison Walljasper and 1 great-great grandchild, Hunter Houghland

She is survived by her children, Gary (Lila) Cross of Des Moines, Terry (Terri) Cross, Pamela (Terry) Crook and Sue (Mahlon) Edgington all of Indianola; daughter-in-law, Dee Cross of Indianola; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Ellars of Des Moines and Carolyn Watson of Leon as-well-as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 3 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to Mercy Home Hospice.  On Line condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
