Twila Joan Wilkinson, 90, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025.

Twila Joan Brammeier was born on October 31, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. As an only child she was raised on a farm near Henderson, Iowa. Her parents hired a local resident, Karen Johnson, to help Twila's mother with chores and to become a companion for Twila.  Karen moved into their farmhouse, and quickly became the kind of friend to Twila that grew to a "sisterhood" that would last a lifetime.  As they both grew up they saw each other marry, start families and they raised all their children as if they were family.

Twila attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1953, where she earned her degree. She eventually met Bill Metcalf in Indianola, marrying on June 23, 1957. Afterwards she taught English at Indianola High School.

Bill and Twila had three children who they loved and cherished, Jordan, Jeff and Jolene. Twila chose to stay home to raise their children; a decision she was proud and happy to make.

Unfortunately, Bill passed away in 1969. Twila was very young yet resilient. She went back to work and eventually met and married Roy Wilkinson in 1976. They were married for 20 years until Roy passed. His 3 daughters have always been a permanent and important part of Twila's life. She always loved her family. She welcomed them with open arms. She was always happy to see them.

Twila was active in PEO, a member of The United Methodist Church, member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at Simpson College. She was an avid book reader. She loved to piece together quilts for her family, and solve the New York Times crossword puzzles, in pencil, with a crossword puzzle dictionary nearby.

Twila is survived by her children, Jordan (Kathy) Metcalf, Jeff Metcalf and Jolene M. Christensen; grandchildren, Kennedy (Alex) Loera, Chandler Metcalf and Evan Metcalf; the Farm Family, Jim Terry (Dolores Silkworth) and Bob Terry (Jeanette Fagan); and step daughters, Cherie Williamson, Cindy (Ron) Dooley and Chris (Rick Straw) Coats. She was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Metcalf and Roy Wilkinson; and her parents, Lewis and Emma Brammeier.

Services for Twila Joan Wilkinson, 90, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at the Indianola First United Methodist Church. The visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 11 a.m.  Burial will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The service will be followed by a short family gathering at the grave site.
