Funeral services for Tony Jo Kurtz, 57, who died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, will be held 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 20 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Cremation will follow services and burial with military rites will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22 in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.

Tony was born in the Ozarks and moved to Des Moines in 1960.  He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.  He had lived in Des Moines and Runnells before moving to Indianola in 1995.  He worked at Firestone, Carrier Heating and Cooling and retired from the City of Des Moines in the engineering department in 2003.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy; son, Scott (Michelle) Kurtz of Des Moines; grandchildren, Kamryn and Kayden; sisters, Gradell (Bill) High of Cincinnati, OH and Delina (Larry) Enders of Elkhart, IN; father-in-law, Manley Young of Fontanelle, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 4 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 – 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.  Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice, Animal Life Line or Warren County Conservation.
