Thomas Jay Brun was born April 4, 1953, in Fairfield, IA to Dorothy and Myron Brun. He grew up in Des Moines, IA, with a few years in Young, AZ. Tom graduated from East High School in Des Moines, IA in 1973 and furthered his education at Des Moines Area Community College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1975, where trauma resulted in his permanent disability.
Tom loved his country and never stopped talking about how proud he was to serve in the U.S. Army. He loved to talk, and music was his passion. He loved going to the Iowa State Fair and to his siblings' sporting events with his mother Dorothy. Tom liked to travel, which he visited about every state in the nation. Tom had much passion for dogs, especially Blaze, Rosie, Montana and Ariel.
Tom passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the age of 68. Survivors include his siblings, Linda Daniel, Rex (Linda) Brun, Irene Brun, Doris Garland, Cindy Brun, and April (John) Marmon; nephews and nieces, Chuck (Carroll Wheaton) Brun, Kristin (Justin) Keller, Jessica (Brian) Carlson, Jevon (Lindsay) Brun, Clarice (Jerome) Dennison, Shawnalyn Christian, Terry (Katie) Minor, Christina Grylls, Joann Daniel, Lynn Daniel, and Steve Daniel; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Brun, his father Myron Brun, sister-in-law Brenda Reed, and nephew Myron Avery.
Services and interment for Tom will be held 2 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.
