THOMAS (TOM) BLOOMQUIST Indianola Thomas (Tom) H. Bloomquist, 64, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, of brain cancer, at his childhood home in east Des Moines, IA. A celebration service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 15, at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Thomas Henry Bloomquist was born June 2, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to Hank and Ruth (Shade) Bloomquist. Tom worked over 30 years for the City of Des Moines, most recently with the Park and Recreation Department retiring in 2004. Tom loved NASCAR, Sprint Car Racing in Knoxville, camping, traveling, visiting with people and attending church. He loved Blue Grass, Christian and Country music. He also had a love of his life, his four legged child, Molly Anne. Tom is survived by his wife, Debbie of 19 years; sons, Johnboy (Tam) of Cedar Rapids and Ryan (Rene) of East Des Moines; grandchildren, Christian, Billy, Victoria, Katy, Kaitlynn, Kennedy and Kolten; and great-granddaughter, Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and numerous others before him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an Animal Shelter or to the family in his name.
