Theresa "Terri" Ann Henson, born on September 27, 1949 to Jim and Ellen Dooley, peacefully passed away on January 28, 2026. She grew up in Van Meter, Iowa, attended Van Meter schools, and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Des Moines. She went on to become a licensed practical nurse working with Dr. Overton and Dr. Garcia, followed by numerous years in the insurance field using her nursing background. She retired from LCSW in 2022.
Terri married Larry Henson of St. Marys, Iowa in 1970, and spent the next 56 years living in the Martensdale area. Through this union, came her three children, Steve, Kami, and Scott.
She spent her free time volunteering and serving as an EMT, secretary and treasurer of the Martensdale Fire Department, serving on the Altar and Rosary Society for the Assumption Parrish, watching ball games and meets of her kids and later grandkids, enjoying knitting and crocheting, and let's not forget her famous sweet tea. She enjoyed water fighting, attending Iowa Fire Fighters Convention, camping, Sister's Weekend trips, and wintering in Arizona. Though her greatest joy was watching her grandkids' extra-curricular activities.
Also known as "the Boss," because she just was being the eldest of thirteen children, her guidance, quick wit, wise counsel, and infectious laugh will be cherished in the memories of her family and friends for years to come.
