Thelma Irene Carico, 58, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa peacefully surrounded by her family. Thelma was cremated and she requested that her cremains be scattered near family in California.

Thelma was born on January 11, 1960 in Southgate, California.  She graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood, California.  As a young adult she enjoyed trips to Disney Land and the ocean.  In 1981 through mutual friends she met her to be husband Glen Carico.  One year later they were married at The Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA.  Following their marriage they continued to live in California and enjoyed camping and boating.

In 1991 they moved to Oregon and then to Iowa in 2002.  She worked at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines for almost 14 years as an Insurance specialist. In her spare time Thelma enjoyed cooking, crafting, and watching movies with her family and dogs Greta and Luna.  She was a devoted wife and mother who will be missed by those who knew her.

Thelma is survived by her husband Glen; son, Christopher; and sisters, Esther Kelemen and Gilda Flick.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Ramona (Luevano) Juvera and her daughter Ashley Carico.
