IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry Lee
Baumann
March 25, 1956 – April 4, 2020
Terry Lee Baumann, 64, of Des Moines IA, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his home in Des Moines, IA – due to complications from diabetes. Terry was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone. A celebration of life and burial of cremains will be held at a later date when concerns and precautions over COVID-19 have lifted.
Born March 25, 1956 in Des Moines, IA, Terry attended Southeast Warren High School, lettering in football, wrestling, and track -- before enrolling in the United States Army in 1973. Following in his father's footsteps, Terry had a well-deserved reputation as a skilled mechanic, having spent most of his life working on anything with a motor and wheels – often for the benefit of his family and friends. Professionally, he spent nearly 25 years at Kenworth as a Diesel Mechanic, having recently retired in February 2020.
In his spare time – Terry had a passion for collecting, fixing, and restoring things of all sizes – tools, furniture, antiques, etc. He was often in the middle of one of his many "projects" or cultivating one of his many "collections." Terry was also known as an avid reader, carrying a book with him almost everywhere he went. He loved nothing more than to spend his free time with each of his sons, with his grandchildren, and with his close friends.
Terry is survived by his sons, Joseph (Megan) Baumann, Ryan Baumann, Brett Baumann; grandchildren, Lily and Max Baumann; Jayne Hopkins; siblings, Debbie Caikowski, Randy Baumann, Scott Baumann; and many nieces, nephews and other family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Baumann and Jean Norman; sister, Kim Bowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Terry's name to the family for a contribution at a later date.
