Obituary

Services for Teresa A. Jacobsen, 44, who died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines following an eleven and a half year battle with cancer, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2 at the First United Methodist Church, 307 West Ashland Avenue, Indianola. Cremation will follow services.

Teresa was born January 25, 1965 in Des Moines and graduated in 1983 from Dowling High School. She received her nursing degree from the University of Iowa in 1988. She and Gary Jacobsen were married on July 21, 1990 at St. Augusta's Catholic Church in Des Moines Iowa. She worked in Pediatric Oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Pediatric Oncology KU Medical Center in Kansas City, and Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Kelsey, Carter and Quinn all of Indianola; parents, Jerry and Lee Plocek of Des Moines; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eldon and Dee Jacobsen of Marion; sisters, Tina (Plocek) Swanson of Denver, CO and Tara (Plocek) Thomas of Los Angeles, CA.

Teresa loved family, friends, animals, cooking (not), collecting angels, yearly trip to Camp Onamia in Onamia, MN, and being Aunt "Tree Tree" to Audrey, Derek, Treyton and will now be their guardian angel. Lastly, Teresa wanted to thank everyone for all the help and meals over the past eleven and one half years.

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Pediatric Oncology at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Research.
