Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
Teddy Wayne Eddleman was born December 12, 1944 in Knoxville, Iowa to Fred and Arlene Eddleman. He grew up in Belinda, Iowa and went to a one room school house, then attended Chariton High School. He married Janet Diane Curtis in June of 1964 and they had 3 children, Jodi Lee, Joel Curtis and Mitzi Diane. They raised their children in Indianola where Ted spent many years raising a huge garden, including growing his Teddy Rednecker popcorn, which he loved to share with family and friends. He also loved the many July’s he spent working during the Warren County Fair as General Maintenance and all around handyman with his great friends, Max Bishop, Gene Johnson, Jr Stackhouse and Merril Heemstra.
Ted also spent 31 years working for the United States Postal Service as a clerk at the main plant, retiring in July 2004. After staying home for 6 months, he got a part-time job at Penzey’s Spices in West Des Moines, combining his love of cooking and talking to people. He worked there for 10 years before retiring again in 2013.
Ted later married Lorri K. Underwood in February 2000 in which he shared 26 years.
Ted is survived by his wife, Lorri Eddleman; children, Jodi (Craig Tassin), Joel (Jen) Eddleman, Mitzi (Eric) Rasmussen and Tyler Underwood; grandchildren, Lauren (Spencer) Lowry, Jake and Drew Tassin, and Evelyn Rasmussen; great-grandchildren, Atticus and Vera Jo Lowry; brother, Terry (Heather, Tad, Ben and Matt) Eddleman; sister, Sally Eddleman, and his former wife, Janet Eddleman.
Ted never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation anywhere with anyone, which always made trips to the grocery store much longer than it would have been.
He had a beautiful singing voice, and fantastic sense of humor, which he passed down to all his children.
He loved Colorado and Arizona and took many vacations in both places over the years. He loved rocks and he cut and polished hundreds of semi-precious stones, and plain rocks into beautiful jewelry, which he gave to people he loved and sold at Flea Markets and Farmer’s Markets, where again he made many friends.
He loved mowing, being in his home, and many special pups over the years and even the cats.
Ted so loved his family and friends. He had many long-lasting friendships and spent much time laughing and teasing each other. Above all, Ted loved God and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was quick with a great hug and always told family and friends that he loved them.
Memorials may be given in Ted’s memory to the Milo Public Library.
