Graveside inurnment of cremains with full military rites for Theodore "Ted" William Mack, 90, who died Monday, April 2, 2018 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28 at Wallace Cemetery, Wick, Iowa .

Ted was born on November 24, 1927 in Pomeroy, Iowa, to Michael and Bertha Meyer Mack.  He loved his country and served in the Army during World War II.  He was a proud member of the American Legion for over 70 years, having served as Chaplin for the St. Marys Post during that time.  He loved to be outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid gardner and enjoyed birding.  He liked to watch the purple martins return every year.  Ted greatly enjoyed sports, especially baseball and softball.  He umpired 2,163 games in 37 years; many of those in Martensdale and St. Marys. Ted was a coin collector and enjoyed attending auctions.  He also had a love of animals.  His cats Mickey and Minnie were always by his side.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude in 1995; siblings, Ida Schroeder, Hulda Spooner, Eileen Tiede, Bernice Steele, Dora Nolte, Victoria Kelly,Marvin Mack, Elmer Mack, and Michael Mack.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews, family friends Mildred (the late Don Catlett) Thornton, Lisa Rokey and Angela Catlett, and many other friends including his "Band of Brothers", the dear friends he made at the VA Hospital.
