Celebration of Life Gathering for Tanya Josette Marks, 69, of Indianola, who passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in Des Moines, will be held 1 to 4 p.m., June 2 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery, rural Carlisle.

Tanya was born December 21st, 1954 in Des Moines.  She shared her birthdate with her Father Russel Nehring.  Her kindergarten teacher noted that she was exceptional at art and was known for her kindness. It was at this time she met her lifelong friend Teri Souer.  Tanya graduated from Indianola High School in May of 1973, and it was that fall when she met the love of her life Dennis Marks. They married in December of 1975 at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church. They welcomed a baby girl Charlee in 1977 and a baby boy Kiel in 1982.

Tanya worked at Total Mobility in Indianola. She enjoyed dancing with Gypsy Kissed, tending to her flower gardens, golfing and watching birds. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Tanya is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Charlee Marks and Kiel Marks; grandchildren, Bella, Grace, Olivia, Lilly, Anthony and Noah; siblings, Georgiana (John) Ames, Judy (Greg) Barger, Fred (Shirley) Nehring, Randy (Joyce) Nehring, Loni Crews, Jace (Tracy) Nehring; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Edna Nehring.

Memorials, in memory of Tanya, may be given to a charity of your choice.
