Obituary

Tamera Lee (Berndt) Hohneke, 52, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Tammy was born on April 13, 1963 in Brandon, MS. Her parents, Eugene and Sandy (Wikert) Berndt made their home in Buckeye, IA. Tammy graduated from Alden High School in 1981 and was active in band, track, basketball, and softball. Tammy met Tony in 1983 and they later married on May 19, 1984 and just celebrated their 31st Wedding Anniversary. Tammy and Tony built their home in Indianola with Dustin (Tony's son from a previous marriage. Tammy thought of Dustin as her own). Daughter Calie joined the family in1985 and Scooter completed the family in 1997. Tammy's greatest joy in life was supporting her three kids in everything that they did and could often be found pacing the sidelines at any of her kid's sports events. Family was the most important thing to her and she loved to spoil her grandson, Grady. Tammy is survived by her husband, Tony; son's Dustin (Shelby) Hohneke and Scooter (McCray) Hohneke; daughter, Calie (Jesse) Lukenbill and grandson, Grady Eugene Charles Lukenbill. She had many cousins, aunts, uncles and many beloved friends that she left behind. She was preceded in death by her parents (whom she missed so much) Eugene and Sandy (Wikert) Berndt. A Celebration of Life will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
