Tamara "Tammy" Louise Morris (Van Rheenen), 62, of Indianola, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, after a long and courageous battle.
Tammy was born on August 10, 1963, in Knoxville. She attended high school in Knoxville, where she formed many lasting friendships, and later continued her education at Indian Hills Community College.
In 1988, Tammy welcomed her first son, Scott. She spent several years moving with her mother until her mother's passing in 1992. Shortly before that time, Tammy met Jeff Ockerman, and the two were married in 1993. That same year, they welcomed their daughter, Stephanie, followed by their son Austin in 1995. Together, they made their home in Adel for much of their marriage.
Throughout her life, Tammy worked in many roles, but she found her greatest joy working with children, especially during her time with the ADM and Indianola school districts, as well as local daycare centers.
After her marriage to Jeff ended, Tammy later met Ron Morris, and they were united in marriage in August of 2009. They made their home in Indianola.
Tammy was a beautiful soul who loved deeply and unconditionally. She cherished her children and adored being a grandmother. Her caring heart and helping nature were evident in both her work and personal life. Tammy had a smile that could light up a room and was always ready with a warm hug.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Morris; children, Scott Ockerman, Stephanie Schroeder (Kristopher), Austin Ockerman, Holly Brazelton and Travis (Shelby) Onstot; cherished grandchildren, Reanna, Myra, Jazmine, Ryleigh, Graycen, Hunter, Londyn, Tanner and Reese; father and stepmother, Doran and Cora Van Rheenen; siblings, Dave Van Rheenen (Rhonda), Micheal Beaver, Nikki Cheang (Aaron).
Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Reeser.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held prior to service from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Gullion Cemetery.
Family would like to thank Shirlee's Retirement Home and Suncrest Hospice for their thoughtful, compassionate care given to Tammy over the last 8 years. Memorial contributions may be made in Tammy's memory to Alzheimer Association.
