IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susie Joleen
Pritchard
July 28, 1964 – March 23, 2025
Susan "Susie" Joleen Pritchard passed away on March 23, 2025, while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico, near her favorite beach. Born on July 28, 1964 to William and Betty Smith, Susie grew up and spent most of her life in Norwalk, Iowa, always staying close to her family. She was smart, funny, sarcastic, kind, and loving, with a laugh that was genuine, comforting, and contagious. She built deep, lifelong friendships and was someone people could always count on, always offering support and a good laugh when needed most. Susie's family meant the world to her.
She loved her three daughters, Ashley McKee, Audrey (Brandon) Parram, and Abby (Nicholas) Head, very much. Her five grandchildren, Nolan, Izzy, Penny, Eleanor, and Dahlia, filled her life with joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them—whether going on fun adventures, attending their events, or simply enjoying their company. Susie's heart held a special place for her son, Trevor McKee, who preceded her in death. Trevor was deeply loved by Susie, and she carried his memory with her always. Also preceding her in death were her parents, William and Betty Smith, her brother, Gary Smith, and her sister, Marcia Smith.
Susie is survived by her brother, Tom (Roxann) Smith, her sister-in-law (and sister at heart) Dianne Smith, along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and her cherished dogs, Mac and Odie, all of whom carry her memory forward with love. Susie had a deep love for the ocean. Reading her books on the beach, with the sound of the waves surrounding her, brought her a sense of calm and peace. It is perhaps fitting that her final days were spent there.
Her church community was another cornerstone of her life, offering support and fellowship during both the good and difficult times. Susie dedicated her career to public service, most recently serving as the Human Resources Director for the Department of Corrections. It would be impossible to name all of the people who loved Susie—a true reflection of the impact she had on those around her. Her kindness, humor, and great spirit will be missed beyond words.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by services and a celebration of her life at 10:30 a.m., both at Norwalk Christian Church. The family invites all to join them for a luncheon at the church afterward. Memorial contributions may be made to Norwalk Christian Church or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue.
