Steven was born in Indianola and had been an over the road truck driver for over 25 years. He had served in the United States Army during Vietnam and had lived in Bettendorf since 1986 before moving to Unionville, MO in April of this year. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #371 of Rock Island, IL and enjoyed golfing, boating, GTOs and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Nelson of Unionville, MO; children, David (Valinda) Terrell of Kirksville, MO, Steven (Ami) Nelson of Clive, Scott (Paige) Nelson of Higginsville, MO, and Tiffany Nelson of Cincinnati, IA; 8 grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony, Colin, Gage, Domenic, Lane, Brandt and Bayleigh. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ole Nelson and sister, Constance Vanderpool.

Visitation will be held 4 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 31 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, 201 South Baltimore Street, Suite C, Kirksville, MO 63501 or M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, Houston, TX.
