Steven Harold Hudson, 67, of Indianola, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Steve has made the selfless decision to donate his body to the Des Moines University anatomical donation program.

Most of Steve's younger years were spent at the family farm just outside of Alleman, Iowa with his sisters and brothers. Wrestling was a major part of his Junior High and Senior high school years where he won the state championship his senior year. His wrestling career ended at Drake University where he is in their Hall of Fame. It was during his time at Drake that he met the love of his life and his best friend, Denise. They were married in May of 1983. Their early years were spent in Omaha involved in the family business, Clean Air Specialists. He loved biking, Cub scouts and building and flying model airplanes with their son, Christopher. After Steve and Denise adopted Emilie in 1993, their family was complete and Chris became “big bother.” The family moved to Indianola, Iowa in January of 1999 and Steve began his career with Herschel Manufacturing, O'Reilly's, Home Depot and Lowe's. One of Steve's greatest joys were his grandchildren. Papa was intentional about spending time and creating so many great memories with all of them. A life well-loved will be well missed.

Steve experienced more than 15 years of medical issues that included the loss of his kidneys. Our dear friend that worked with us in the Awana program at Indianola Community Church, Kim Neessen, selflessly donated her kidney, “Irene,” to Steve August 3rd, 2020 and allowed us five and a half “bonus” years with him. Please consider becoming an organ donor.

Steve is survived by his wife, Denise; son, Christopher (Karri) Hudson; daughter, Emilie (Tyler) Spence; grandchildren, Jordan Metcalf, Dylan Metcalf, Caleb Hudson, Emma Hudson, Rhett Spence and one granddaughter on the way; siblings, Connie (Junior) Tuma, Tim (Debby) Hudson; and many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Linc Hudson and Shirley Hudson Mason; sisters, Debbie Lourens, Cathy Johnson; and brother, Bruce “Slammer” Hudson.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held between 1 and 5 p.m., Saturday, April 11th at the Indianola Community Church. Please join Steve’s family in remembering his life anytime during the Celebration.

Memorials in memory of Steve may be made to the family for a contribution at a later date.
