Services for Steven R. Baker, 49, who died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center of heart failure will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Steven was born on June 25, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Iowa State University in Ames and Simpson College in Indianola. He worked for Corn State Hybrids, Custom Built Homes and for the past 25 years with Meredith Corp. He was an active member of POAC (Pony of Americas Club) and the Iowa POA Club. He was also a charter member of the Iowa Bull Dog Club. He enjoyed his dogs, horses, basketball, and being actively involved with his family and their activities. He was a loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ethel Baker; sister-in-law Tish Young and father-in-law Howard Victor.

Steven is survived by his wife, Becky Victor-Baker and daughters, Dana and Darcy Baker all of Indianola; brothers, Jerry Baker of Des Moines and William (Judi) Baker of Boone; mother-in-law, Wanda "Gra" Victor; sister-in-law, Jill (Tony) Mauro; brother-in-laws, Howard (Rebecca) Victor and Dan (Debbie) Victor, nieces, Lisa McVicker, Christine Grandberg, Leanne Baker, Jenna Eppert, Erin Baker, Chris Croat, Tracie Baker, Anna, Katie and Carrie Victor, nephews, Travis Young, Matt Victor and Brandon Mauro.

Visitation will be held 2:00 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family or in his name to the American Heart Association.
