Stanley M. Sorensen, 98, formerly of St. Charles, IA. died Friday, May 22, 2009. He was born March 25, 1911, son of Nels and Johanna Andersen Sorensen.  Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA with burial following in the Linn Grove Cemetery, rural Norwalk, IA.

He married Marjorie Brown in 1939.   Stanley farmed around Norwalk, Indianola and St. Charles for many years.  He was a member of the Martensdale Community Church.

He was preceded in death by wife Marjorie; parents; step-mother, Gail; brothers, Clifford and Robert; sisters, Agnes Nissen and Mildred Thomas Lewis; step-sister, Marjorie Tomlinson; and granddaughter, Micaela Halbmaier.

He is survived by three daughters, Pat (LaVerne) Middleswart, Dike; Nancy (Paul) Mead, Lacona and Mary (Mark) Halbmaier, Boone.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne, Des Moines; and sisters, Mary Warner, Ankeny and Beverly Sorensen, Des Moines.

Visitation will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 25 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the St. Charles Library, Martensdale Community Church or the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.  Online condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
