Stanley was born near Milo, Iowa and lived in Indianola for 55 years. He had previously lived and farmed south of Indianola. He owned Westview Care Center for 14 years also worked maintenance and drove a school bus for the Indianola School District for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Indianola; his sons, Richard (Linda) Runyan of Pleasantville, Jeff (Julie) Runyan of Indianola, and Joel Runyan of Chariton; daughter, Karla (Dennis) Derrickson of Milo; brother, Bob Runyan of Indianola; sister, Marilyn Runyan of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-granddaughter .

Visitation will be held 2 – 6 p.m., Sunday, December 9 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 3 – 6 p.m. Memorial may be given to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Iowa, West Des Moines.
