Funeral services for Shirley Anita Wolff-Eichner, 99, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, will be held 12 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the First Assembly of God Church in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to service. A Graveside service will be held 12 p.m., Friday, June 23 in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson.
Shirley Anita Larson Novak Wolff-Eichner had lived almost 100 years.
During her life, she had seen many remarkable changes. She was born in Hancock County, Iowa on September 22, 1923, the daughter of Joachim "Joe" and Sena (Asbe) Larson. Her early years were spent on a farm South of Kanawa, where she enjoyed farm life, playing with her younger siblings, and teasing her older sisters that were still home. She was a sister to five brothers and six sisters. She graduated from high school in Kanawa.
Once Shirely left home, her work included working in the ordinance plant during World War II. After the war ended, she moved to Chicago to care for a nephew. There she met her first husband Robert F. Novak and there were married in 1945. Robert passed in 1967. In 1969, Shirley married Walter Wolff and they were married until he passed in 1970. She then married Earl Eichner in 1988 and they were married until he passed in 2016. During her lifetime, she was a bookkeeper and teller for banks, homemaker, Avon representative, and clerk for Younkers department store where she retired. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, and carrying for her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robert (Donna) Novak, Sharon (Wayne) Bueltel, John (Paula) Wolff, William (Jackie) Wolff, Robert (Karen) Eichner, Kay Eichner; sister, Virginia Logli; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings, one daughter, and two grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in her name for a contribution at a later date.
