A Memorial Mass for Shirley G. Mees, 89, who passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Westview Care Center, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 24 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Shirley gifted her body to Des Moines University and burial of her cremains will be held at a later date in the Norwalk Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Cathy Vroman, Steve (Janet) Mees, Bernie (John) Rehbein and Richard (Michelle) Mees; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene Mees; daughter, Connie Smith; son, Robert Mees; brothers, Delphos and Evan Lynn Shellhase; sister, Donna Mary Hornbussel, Lucile McCarty and Ruth Hesser; Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
