Shirley Kathryne Herrick, 88, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines.

Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m., April 13, 2024 at the Indianola Freedom Fellowship Church, followed immediately with her Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow after the services.  Inurnment at the Greenfield Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Shirley was born in Fontanelle, Iowa and graduated from Richland High School, where she was active in basketball. She was a lifelong resident of Iowa and employed as a Dietary Clerk at Iowa Methodist Hospital for an amazing 38 years.  Shirley was very active in her church and a dedicated servant of the Lord.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Timothy Leeper, David (Diana) Leeper, and Mark (Darlene) Leeper; step-children, Steven Herrick, Stan (Alta) Herrick, Liz Herrick, Rick Herrick, and Tom (Krysten) Herrick; grandchildren, Chad (Jessie) Leeper, Leslie Herrick, Nicholas (Sarah) Herrick, Mackenzy (Jeff) Olthoff, and Lindsay (Drew) Downing; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Logan Leeper, Grace and Knox Downing, Chloe and Carter Olthoff, Jordan, Kyle, Jay, Caleb, Abilgail, Addison, Peyton, and Brody Herrick.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Herrick; parents, Donald and Katie Vorrath; brother, Earl Vorrath; daughter-in-law, Amy Leeper; step-daughter, Jacklin Herrick; and grandson, Chad Herrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Shirley's name, may be given to the Indianola Freedom Fellowship Church.
