Shirley was born June 30, 1919, in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Floyd and Etta Morgan. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1938 and attended the University of Iowa for two years.
Shirley married Rex M. Harrison on September 21, 1941, and they lived in Hampton and Indianola. He died in April, 1964.
Shirley moved to Des Moines in 1972 and to Hemet, CA, in 1984, returning in 1992 to Indianola. She's been a resident of The Village Health Center for the last 5 ½ years.
Through the years Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Indianola and Chapter BP of P.E.O. She was an avid bridge and card player who enjoyed cooking, homemaking, traveling, and raising her family.
Shirley is survived by her children Bob (Jane) Harrison, Waverly, IA; Ginny Saunders, Creswell, OR; and Janet (Murray) Clevenger, McKinney, TX; granddaughters Laura Knox, Suzy Wilson, Emily Saunders, Beth Ann Vega, Katie Clevenger, and Kimberly Clevenger and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marge, and her husband.
Visitation will be held at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola, on Saturday, March 28, 9-10:30, with a service following at 10:30. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Village in Indianola, Iowa.
Shirley's family expresses heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the care givers of the Village.
