Memorial services for Shirlee L. Burgin-Frisk, 87, of Indianola, who passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Osceola, will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2021 at Overton funeral home in Indianola, IA with visitation held one hour prior to service from 10 to 11 a.m.  Friends may join the family on Shirlee's obituary page of Overton Funeral Home's website beginning at 11 a.m. Public graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Friday in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, Rural Stanhope, IA.

Shirlee Married Forrest Burgin on August 1, 1953 and had 6 children. She worked in many medical facilities doing patient accounts and collections. In June 1980, she married Homer Frisk and moved to the farm in Stanhope, Iowa. She loved having big family gatherings for the holidays or any occasion. She enjoyed showing the grandkids her own little animal farm of chickens, geese, and turkeys. All of her grandkids were very special to her, and they all loved her dearly. She spent many years babysitting multiple kids over the weekends. She enjoyed antiques and had her own store next to their home in Stanhope. It was called "Grey Goose Antiques" and this is how she got the nickname "Grandma Goose". She took care of several elderly ladies in the evenings. Shirlee finally retired from the Hamilton County Hospital and it wasn't long before the doctors there talked her into coming out of retirement to work patient accounts at the Webster City Medical Clinic. She retired for good in 2009. Shirlee loved garage sales and second-hand stores. Her favorite sayings were: I love you a bushel and a peck a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck; Rabbit in a hash and a polecat mash and pecka pecka ahh good gravy.

Shirlee is survived by her children, Craig (Tammy) Burgin, Debbie (Otis Konrad) Blair, Chuck (Kari) Burgin, Jay (Cindy) Burgin, Patty Burgin-Eisele, James "Buzz" (Tina) Burgin; step-children, Steve (Deann) Frisk, Gary (Dianne) Frisk, Jane (Ron) Brobst; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Millie Wickman, Kay Henderson, Karen Bartling, Darwin Wikert.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Frisk; parents, Frank and Viola Wikert; brothers, Marvin and Dwayne Wikert; and sisters, Sandy Berndt; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Josephine Blair.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Iowa Heart Association.
