Services for Sherry Lavonne Ackerman, 86, of Des Moines, who passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Sherry Lavonne Ackerman was born January 12, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence and Elsie McKim.  Sherry was married to Richard Ackerman on October 27, 1966 and to this union one son, Philip was born.

Sherry worked for the City of Des Moines and the Des Moines Botanical Garden. She lived in Indianola, Iowa most of her life. She loved her family and was devoted to the Lord and attended the Nazarene Church.  She liked Thomas Kinkade pictures, lighthouses and enjoyed listening to gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Elsie McKim, husband Richard, son Philip and sister Janis.

Survivors include sisters, Kathy (Jim) Cordaro and Lois Weston, daughter-in-law Karen Ackerman and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
