Sharon K. Albright, age 80, of Norwalk Iowa passed away peacefully Monday January 3, 2022 at Mercy West Hospital 7 days from her 81st birthday with family at her side.
Sharon was born January 10th, 1941, in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Harold and Mary Wade. She was the oldest of 8 brothers and sisters. It was there where she met her husband C. Dave Albright. Sharon and Dave celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 14th, 2021. They moved to Norwalk in 1967. It was there where they both worked together in the Home Building/Real Estate field. Sharon had many rolls within their different endeavors, one of her proudest was her approval of one of the Midwest's first 501(c)3 Nonprofit organizations specializing in affordable housing. The organization helped thousands of new homeowners achieve their dream of home ownership.
Sharon was very outgoing and made new friends where every she went. There was not a person that Sharon met that she did not connect with. She had an amazing outgoing and outspoken personality She was extremely compassionate and had a love for people. Sharon and Dave started going to Lake Rathbun as the lake filled in the early 1970's and her passion for the lake never changed. She loved the lake and made many lifelong friends and memories at Lake Rathbun.
Sharon was a very strong woman and used that strength to be the glue for her family. Traveling for her kids and husband's sporting events, hunting, fishing, and boating. You could always find Sharon in her flip flops on the front of her houseboat enjoying a Miller Light!
Sharon had a long battle with cancer starting in 2010. As we all know Sharon is a fighter and did things her way. She battled all the way to the end to be able to get back to the lake for the next fun weekend.
She is survived by her husband, C. Dave Albright; as well as sons, David (Dana) Albright of Waukee, Iowa, JD (Kelli) Albright of Norwalk, Iowa, Chris (Julie) Albright of Norwalk, Iowa; and daughter, Jan (Loras) Glynn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also is survived by 9 grandchildren, Kelley (Rob) Fox of Chicago, Illinois, Bryan Glynn of Chicago, Illinois, Kyle Glynn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Paige (Dustin) Elliott of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ryan Walters of Des Moines, Iowa, Zach Swanson of Phoenix, Arizona, Haley Swanson of Indianola, Iowa, Jaden Albright of Norwalk, Iowa, Mallory Albright of Norwalk, Iowa; and several great-grandchildren. She was precedent in death by her parents, 2 sisters Sara Allen and Terry Chandler and a niece Brenda Minikus.
Visitation for Sharon will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk on what would have been Sharon's 81 st Birthday. A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. at the church. A Mass and Catholic Burial will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday January 11 th at St John the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Dan Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Norwalk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to family for a memorial at Lake Rathbun to be determined at a later date.
