Services for Scott Mealey, 68, of Indianola, who passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska, will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025 AT Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Visitation will be held prior to services from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow services.

Scott Mealey passed away surrounded by his children. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Martha(Chaplin) and James Mealey on January 20th, 1956. Scott grew up with a loving mother, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. He attended schools in Indianola and worked at Gambles during his high school years. Scott worked at Herschels in Indianola for several years before starting a career at DeeZee in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Where he was still working when he passed. Throughout his working life, Scott had worked alongside his brothers Al Mealey and Ron Mealey on and off.

Scott graduated from Indianola High School where he met the love of his life, Pauletta(Chapman). They shared three beautiful children together, 2 sons and a daughter. Scott and Pauletta shared 34 years of marriage and 38 years of commitment. After divorcing in 2012, they shared a close friendship, bonded by the years they spent together, their children and grandchildren.

Scott was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on vehicles and spending time with his grandkids in the shop. He had a smart witted mouth that could either leave you speechless or crying from laughter. One of his favorite things to do in his free time was gravel traveling on the back country roads. Scott had a gift to gab and was no stranger to anyone. Trips to the store usually resulted in hour long conversations if Scott were to stop you. He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

Scott is survived by his children, Travis (Devin) Mealey-Motz, Stephanie Gavin and Matt (Kayla) Mealey; grandchildren, Valerie Murphy, Kenneth Turpin, Antonio Gavin, Augustina Gavin, Gabriele Gavin, Abbagaile Gavin, Mathias Witzke, Kolten Mealey, Matrix Mealey, Jeremy Hutson, Lilli Hutson, Kinnick Mealey; siblings, Al (Rosemary) Mealey, Glenda (Dan) Loving, Dolly (Dave) Mealey, Patty (Frank) Kisley, Barb (Eric) Klingensmith, Rick Chaplin, former wife and lifelong friend Pauletta Mealey, many nieces, nephews, friends and companion Tauna Raper.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Mealey, brothers, Steve Mealey and Ron Mealey.

Memorials in memory of Scott may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society.
