Private family funeral services for Sandra "Sandy" Hunerdosse-Lisk, 67, who passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at home, will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may join the family on our live stream beginning at 10:30 a.m. on her obituary page of Overton Funeral Home's website.

Sandra "Sandy" Hunerdosse-Lisk was born on September 15, 1953 to Vernon and Audrey Kirkpatrick-Hunerdosse. She graduated from Southeast Warren High School in the class of 1971.

She had her first son, Jeff in 1976. After she moved to Oklahoma she had two more sons, Chuck in 1981 and James in 1984. Sandy moved home to Iowa in 1985, where she raised her boys. They were her greatest accomplishment. In 2000, her middle son, Chuck passed away in a tragic accident. Sandy was devastated, but shortly after in 2004 she met the love of her life, Warren "Bub" Lisk. They were married in 2005.

Sandy had various jobs over the years but the one that brought her the most joy was working at Irving elementary as a custodian. She loved getting to see the kids and always enjoyed the friendships she had with the teachers and other staff in the building.

In her spare time, Sandy loved to be with her grandkids. She followed them to ballgames, wrestling meets, and county fair shows. She loved to follow her littlest ones around her farm, teaching them all as they went. She also loved to quilt and spent hours in her sewing room. She could make anything you asked for and always did it with a smile on her face. When she retired in 2019, those were the two things she was most looking forward to, spending more time with her grand babies (big and small) and quilting as much as she could. She loved a good family reunion, where she could talk to her many family members. Sandy spent hours sitting in her rocker on her porch, she loved her farm and took so much pride in her yard.

Sandy will be remembered by her feisty personality and her "take no crap" attitude. She always had a listening ear and good advice. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Sandy is survived by her sons, Jeff (Nicki) Gibson and James (Kati) Thurman; husband, Warren Lisk; children Matt (Angel) Lisk and Mendy (Bud) Jeffery; grandchildren, Clayton, Taylor, Averi, Charli Kate and Rossi; siblings, Deb (Stanley) Bingham and Carla Hunerdosse; many nieces and other family.  Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Audrey Hunerdosse, and her son Chuck Thurman.

Public visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, at Overton Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to the family in her name for a contribution at a later date.
