Sandy was born in Kirksville, MO living there until 1964.  Her family then moved to Des Moines before moving to Milo in 1973, where she graduated fromSoutheast Warren High School.  She had worked for Burgin Window Treatment in Indianola for 16 years and also for Mary's Hallmark.  Sandy loved God and loved being a part of her family's lives.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Bryce (Katie) Gilbert, Lon Gilbert; daughter, Erin (Eric Meyer) Gilbert all of Indianola; two grandchildren, Kolton and Ashlyn Gilbert; mother, Bette (Forrest) Burgin of Johnston; sisters, Jana Shimer of Des Moines and Sharon Brake of Kansas City, MO.

Visitation will be held 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, December 27 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
