Ruth Evelyn Thacker, 92, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola.
Ruth was born February 20, 1915, to Thomas and Ida Randa in Cylinder, Iowa. Following the death of her mother, Ruth was raised by an aunt and uncle speaking only Norwegian until she attended grade school.
Ruth married Richard E. Thacker on May 15, 1941. She lived in Indianola the majority of her life and assisted in the operation of Thacker Super Valu. She enjoyed her family, friends, travel, reading and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard and granddaughter Lisa Hitchings. Surviving are children, Rand Thacker of Waukee, Richie Thacker of Plymouth, MN, Reta Moore of Clyde, CA, Rhonda Marchant and Reed Thacker both of Indianola, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thacker was cremated and no services are scheduled. The family asks that memorials be given to Westview Care Center in Indianola.
