Ruth L. (Harris) Patrick passed away peacefully on August 4, 2010 at Wesley the Village in Indianola, Iowa. She was born January 22, 1923 in Clarke County, Iowa to James M. and Ada C. (Gould) Harris, the youngest of seven.
Ruth graduated from New Virginia high school valedictorian of her class in 1940. She married James C. Patrick August 10, 1941 at Maysville, Missouri. Together, they made their home in Indianola, Iowa, raising three children and a granddaughter. They also hosted a foreign exchange student, Brigitte Fallott, who became just as dear to them as their own.
Ruth retired from Peoples Trust & Savings Bank in 1985 after 27 years. Ruth was an active member of PEO Chapter JV, Lioness, and Susanna Wesley Circle at First United Methodist Church in Indianola. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and other needlework. Ruth was an excellent cook and prepared countless meals for friends and family with her cinnamon rolls always a sought-after treat.
Ruth is survived by her husband James C. Patrick; sons, Richard P. Patrick and J. Steven Patrick; grandchildren, Deanna M. (Eric McLuen) Overton, Christine (Kenny Schleich) Patrick, Joseph (Eileen) Patrick, Linda Patrick, Casey (Jamie) Patrick, Michael Patrick, and Joshua (Haley Funk) Patrick; twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter and son-in-law, R. Elaine (Patrick) and R. Richard Overton.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Friday, August 6 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 - 8 p.m. P.E.O. services will be held at 7:30p.m. Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shephard Fund at The Village or First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Online condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
