Services for Ruth Lorene Gideon, 91, of Carlisle, Iowa, previously of Norwalk, who passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the North River Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m.

Ruth was born in Carlisle, Warren County, Iowa, on July 19, 1933, to Owen L. Gideon and Lola C. (Whitcomb) Gideon.  She remained near to her birthplace the majority of her life.  Ruth was the middle daughter in the family of three girls growing up in rural Warren County just north of Indianola and attended Indianola High School.  She worked for many years at the Indianola Good Samaritan Nursing Home, until her retirement.

Ruth's favorite pastime was to play her piano.  She played for numerous churches including North River Church, throughout the years, and astounded many by her ability to play by ear!  More than anything, Ruth loved to worship the Lord and did so daily in prayers and her music.  She was purest of souls and will be missed.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents,; older sister, Marilyn M. (Gideon) Robinson; and younger sister, Sharon K. (Gideon) Ramsey; daughter, Denise A. (Danes) Mahan; and son, Dan O. Danes.  She is survived by her daughter, Candi A. (Danes) Peterson and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Isaiah (Jill) Lackland, Ivory Eggert, Echo Eggert, Amber (Geoff) Clevenger, Orion Peterson, Autumn Peterson, Sarah Mahan, Emma Lowe Danes and Elizabeth Lowe Danes; and eight great-grandchildren.
